Kahayag Café hosts regular literary reading

Kahayag Café is allowing creative writing in the Visayas to take centerstage in its monthly “Bantawan sa Bathalad.”

Opening its doors for Bathalad (Bathalan-ong Halad sa Dagang), a clique of Cebuano poets and fictionists, Kahayag Café has been a haven for diners in the city expecting not only affordably fine cuisine but also a side dish out of Cebu’s dynamic music and art scene.

“Kahayag Café literally holds the candle to Hemingway’s notion of a clean, well-lighted place for the stomach but also for the soul,” affirms Michael U. Obenieta, president of Bathalad.

According to Obenieta, Kahayag Café has been “very generous” in hosting “Bantawan sa Bathalad” every first Wednesday of the month starting last Aug. 3.

The café is located at the ground floor of Sea Orient bldg. (formerly Coaco) along M.J. Cuenco ave., Mabolo. For more information, one may call (032) 233-8676 or e-mail webmaster@kahayagcafe.com.
