CH to create 3 positions out of 4 abolished ones
The Mandaue City Council is recommending approval of the measures that will abolish certain positions in different departments of City Hall to give way to new ones.
The City Council approved the reports of the committee on laws and ordinances, which studied the proposals.
Two positions for public services officer III under the Department of General Services will be abolished and will be replaced by the position of computer programmer and computer maintenance and technologist under the Office of the Mayor.
The positions for agricultural technologist and agricultural technician II of the City Agriculture Office will be also be removed and replaced with an executive assistant III.
Vacancies
The position of training officer I under the City Cooperative Office will be renamed as manpower development officer II.
The committee report stated that of the five positions for public services officer III, only three are occupied.
These persons are assigned to garbage, environmental, sanitation and environmental protection. The two remaining positions have been vacant for some time.
Mayor Thadeo Ouano earlier called for the hiring of personnel skilled in computer programming to fill the information and communication technology office at City Hall.
Budget limit
Since the positions are not available, the committee on laws recommended abolishing two vacant positions to give way to the new positions. This will help the City avoid the budget limit on personnel services.
Also, the City hasn’t had an agricultural technologist and agricultural technician since 1992.
So the positions will give way to the new position of executive assistant III, the post of the building manager, who will be tasked to look after government buildings and supervise their maintenance.
Meanwhile, the renaming of the position under the City Cooperative Office is “merely remedial” because the title of training officer I is not in the index of positions under the said office. (AAG)
