Matteo claims all 3 heats of Rotax Max Srs. in Shell Superkart

Karter of the Year Matteo Guidicelli of Cebu Racing Group swept all three heats, warding off the challenge by Birel’s Marlon Stockinger to rule the Rotax Max Seniors class in the fifth leg of the 2005 Shell Helix Superkarting Series at the Ekart Track of the Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

The win was enough for Guidicelli to regain the Rotax Max Seniors solo leadership from Stockinger in this event sponsored by the Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp., Honda Philippines Inc., Denso Iridium Power, Bridgestone by Philippine Allied Enterprises Corp., DMCI Homes, Eastway Motorcycle Racing, Khaos, Aeromed and Aviva Insurance.

Similar track

The track was much similar to the Kart Zone in Guidicelli’s hometown of Cebu City as the reigning champ raced as if he knew every corner, blocking all of Stockinger’s attempts to pass.

He finished the 28-lap race in 17:07.735 or 2.142 seconds ahead of Stockinger.

His CRG teammate Ivan Carapiet took third place with a time of 17:21.090, while Mark Bumgarner ended fourth.

Other winners

Sharing honors with Guidicelli were Dino Jacinto and Marcel Thenu.

Jacinto clocked 18:08.972 to rule the 14-man Rotax Max Novice division over Toti Turalba and Arvin Gonzales.

Jean Marcelo of Marcelo Racing unveiled a big comeback from the tail-end to wound up fourth, while Christian Yap settled for fifth place.

Thenu, on the other hand, kept his record unblemished as he scored his fifth consecutive victory over Ricardo Loi and Victor Yap.
