Cop clams up on rumors he’s injured

SPO1 Adonis Dumpit is reportedly being treated in a clinic in Cebu for two gunshot wounds in his body.

No source has agreed to come out on record yet about the circumstances behind Dumpit’s supposed injuries, but at least two sources, including a top police official, admitted getting such a report.

Dumpit was not available for a detailed interview yesterday but replied to Sun.Star Cebu’s questions through text messages on the issue of the temporary restraining order he and his lawyer obtained from the Court of Appeals.

He no longer replied, however, when asked to comment about the two shooting incidents that allegedly left him injured in the leg and in the shoulder.

Based on his text message, Dumpit said he is in hometown Banganga, Davao Oriental to tend to his ailing 72-year-old mother.

“Lisud kaayo ang signal diri bukid ning amo sa Banganga, Davao Oriental (The cell phone signal here in the mountains isn’t steady),” his text message said.

Sun.Star Cebu visited Dumpit’s house in Villagonzalo I, Barangay Tejero, Cebu City last Saturday afternoon but his wife was not available for comment.

Several neighbors told Sun.Star Cebu that Dumpit left Tejero about a month ago. They heard that Dumpit went to Mindanao. JST/OCP
