Okinawan cops 7 golds

OKINAWAN karatekas came up with the big wins to rule the 2nd E-Mall Karatedo Tournament with seven gold medals, including two top-three sweeps, at the Elizabeth Mall Activity Center over the weekend.

In the Men’s Open, Okinawan’s Miguelito Torremocha bested club mate Jessie Ray Torremocha to take the gold medal, while losing semifinalists Earl Randy Pomarijos and Neil Macapañas settled for the bronze medals.

It was a similar story in the Girls 12-13 year old after Alhexis Enad took the gold over teammate Jocel Iris Yap with Caryl Arciete taking the bronze.

Other gold medalists for Okinawan were Vincent Tano, who won over Rey John Mahinay of LLMAC in the Boys 10-11; Ray Bictor Reynes in the Boys 14-15, Mary Angelique Arcamo, who won over Jana Jaramillo of LLMAC in Girls 10-11; Jessiel Cabillo, who defeated Ester Mae Ramirez of LLMC in the Girls 14-15; and Michelle Real in the Women’s Open.

In the kumite and shutokan contests, it was Bamasko’s turn to shine as it plucked six gold medals.

Dave Cincoflores defeated Bench Dayondon of EKC to win the Boys 8-9 and Donita Rose Tacay added another in the Girls 12-13. Josie Francisco added another gold in the Boys 14-15.

Tacay defeated Alhexis Enad of Okinawan, while Francisco bested Mattheau Zamora of the University of Cebu.

Regine Morales got the fourth gold after defeating LLMAC’s Angeli Booc in the Girls 14-15, while Chad Morales won a gold in the 12-13 after besting Glen Mendoza of EKC.

Regine Morales completed the haul with a win over Ester Mae Ramirez in the Girls 14-15. ML
