Ozamiz cops NBC top spot

THE Ozamiz Cotta virtually sealed the top spot in the Southern conference after picking its ninth win, an impressive 83-67 bashing of the visiting Baguio Lions Saturday night in the 2005 Panasonic-NBC National Championship at the Gov. Medina Gym in Ozamiz City.

At the San Juan Gym in Metro Manila, the Parañaque Jets wrapped up their season by snapping the two-game win streak of Manila with an 84-76 victory.

Parañaque ended its season with a 6-7 card, while Manila suffered its sixth defeat in seven games.

Cebu Doctor’s College White Stallions alum Dennis Cabigkis led the Cotta Shrine with 16 points, while Rolof Liangco and Milfred Sampilo added 14 and 13 to help Ozamiz grab a homecourt edge in the playoffs.

The Lions surged in the opening minutes of the second half as they came within five, 46-41, but that was the closest they could muster as Ozamiz took control the rest of the game. RCM
