Cvisnet wins IT award

The Central Visayas Information Sharing Network (Cvisnet) Foundation Inc., a Cebu-based information technology (IT) service provider, ranked third among the country’s 10 finalists for this year’s Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Digital Opportunity Center (Adoc) Awards held last Aug. 3–6 at the Taipei International Convention Center in Taipei, Taiwan.

The 2005 Adoc Award recognizes the best e-practices of six partner member economies. It awards outstanding contributions to the advancement of emerging digital technologies and applications benefiting the society.

Non-profit

Created in August 2004 and funded by Chinese Taipei, ADOC is an independent, non-profit cooperation between the public and private sectors serving as a platform for analyzing and expanding digital advancements and policies among Apec members.

A total of 60 entries from the Philippines, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Indonesia and Chile qualified as finalists to the Adoc Awards, with 10 entries per country. The finalists received a trophy and all-expense-paid five-day trip to the Taipei conference and awarding ceremony as prizes.

The top three finalists of each country competed for the top three major awards.

The country’s Bureau of Internal Revenue’s e-Filing and Payment System was the overall winner. Coming in second was the Online Taxation System of Vietnam, followed by Chile’ s Business Solution. (PR)
