Skal to form more clubs

Skal International, a professional organization of tourism leaders around the world that promotes global tourism and friendship, is geared to create more clubs in the country today and hopes to establish global networking among its members.

The organization, founded in 1932 in Paris by travel managers, is the only international group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry.

Charles Lim, national president of Skal International-Philippines, said Skal International helps promote the country through its network of 22,000 members worldwide in 500 clubs throughout 87 nations.

There are currently four clubs in the country: Skal International Manila, founded in 1952; Skal International Makati, founded in 1980; Skal International Cebu, founded in 1991; and Skal International Davao, founded in 1997.

“Skal International-Philippines is currently into its expansion program geared to form clubs in Bacolod city, Baguio, Subic, Boracay and Cagayan de Oro,” Lim said.

Membership of Skal is open to managers or executives directly involved in tourism management, sales and promotions and in specified travel and tourism businesses including transportation (airlines, cruise lines, railways, ferries), travel and tour operators and agencies, tourism organizations, governments and non-government tourism councils, hotels, convention centers, travel, media, among others.

Interested parties who wish to join or create a new Skal club may contact (032) 231-7673 or visit Selrahco Management at 711 Trinity Plaza Tower, N. Escario st.
