Comm’l building to rise on former residential lot

Surrounded by economic activity, a family decided to tear down their residence along Archbishop Reyes Ave. to build a three-story commercial building.

Mike Jo, whose family has been residing in the area for 30 years, said the building, which will be named The Forum, will be ready for occupancy in September.

The building will house a salon, a spa, restaurants, a coffee shop, an airline ticketing office and a branch of Chinatrust Bank.

Construction of the structure, which will be equipped with an elevator, started last January. It is located beside the Grand Convention Center.

Jo said he started planning the business in 1996.

“When more and more commercial establishments filled the area, we decided to go into this business,” he said. (CYR)
