Gene’s Salvarro receives shoppers’ choice award
Gene’s Salvarro de Cebu was recognized as the no. 1 Salvarro in Metro Cebu during the 2005 National Shoppers’ Choice Award held last Aug. 9 at the Grand Majestic Convention Center in Cebu.
Shopper’s Choice Award is a collaborative effort of the Asia-Pacific Shoppers’ Choice Institute, Asian-Philippines Association of Marketing Professionals, Essence Magazine, Essence Privilege Card, and Hernz KPMR Marketing.
It aims to recognize outstanding business outfits judged according to quality of products, service excellence, and reputable corporate image and foresight.
According to Aida Cavan-Ugalde, proprietress, the award came to her as a surprise.
She got the news while she was in Canada from her daughter-in-law, who now manages the business with her husband.
Gene’s (coined from Eugenio’s name, Aida’s husband) Salvarro was first introduced to the market in 1985. Since then, it has widened its reach to Guam, USA, Australia, and Canada. Locally, it is distributed in leading supermarkets.
Aside from Salvarro, the company also prides itself with its other products such as otap, rosquillos, hojakdres, galletas, polvoron cookies and garlic biscocho “which are all equally as good as salvarro.”
Aida said the company is committed to maintain the highest quality of its products as it envisions to be one of Cebu’s top quality biscuit makers. (Diadema V. Emping)
