18-2 burst propels Batch ’90 over Pagcor in Shaba hoops
Five-time champion Fighter Wine ’90 unleashed a crippling 18-2 third-quarter run en route to a 64-49 victory Sunday over Pagcor 2000 to take the top spot in the Sacred Heart Alumni Basketball Association Lux Oriens division.
A close first half saw both teams exchange spurts until Fighter Wine uncorked an 18-0 run that turned a four-point halftime lead into a 22-point cushion.
Pagcor did not make a field goal in the quarter and only managed to score on two free throws with seconds to go in the quarter.
Erickson Arienza led Fighter Wine with 19 points, while three-time MVP Dave Lim added 17 as they improved to 9-2. Dave Ting tallied 17 points for Pagcor, which dropped to No.2 with an 8-3 record.
In other games, Edcon Glass ’92 toyed with Gef-Carrier ’98 before scoring a 71-33 rout, while White Gold ’96 scored a big 107-60 victory over winless Batch 2002.
Fighter Wine, Pagcor, Edcon Glass and White Gold have all clinched the four playoff spots in the Lux Oriens division
