Oracle outperforms competition in Aspac

Oracle announced it has outperformed SAP, its competition in Asia Pacific, as it delivered significant new applications license revenue growth of 80% in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2005 (from the same period last year).

This is more than three times SAP’s recent reported second quarter growth of 23%[http://www.sap.com/company/investor/press.epx?PressID=1165] in the Asia Pacific region. For the full year (which ended on May 31), Oracle’s new applications license revenues in Asia Pacific grew 46%.

“Customer response to Oracle across Asia has been overwhelming,” said Mark Gibbs, senior vice president for Applications at Oracle Asia Pacific.

“Oracle is taking market share from our competition in this region. This is clear from our phenomenal growth in overall applications sales, as well as across major industries and key solution areas. We are surpassing other vendors by delivering applications revenue growth of up to 272% in important industries and solution areas across Asia Pacific (excluding Japan).”

The company (excluding Japan) reported significant year-on-year growth in applications revenues in the fiscal year 2005 across its target industries and key solution areas.

“The pace at which Oracle grew its applications business across Asia-Pacific over the past 12 months is unrivalled,” said Gibbs.

“Unlike our competitors that are heavily dependent on their installed base for revenue, our growth was largely fuelled by our strategy to dominate key service industries. These industries offer high growth and are largely underpenetrated in terms of packaged business applications. Oracle is well-positioned to compete and win in these industries as we continue to increase our focus on offering customers deep industry functionality and a superior ownership experience.”
