Supt. Loot back as Cebu provincial police chief

Wednesday, August 31, 2005
Supt. Loot back as Cebu provincial police chief

Three months after he was relieved as officer-in-charge of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), Supt. Vicente Loot is back at his post.

An order signed by Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Chief of Staff, Senior Supt. Lani-o Nerez, stated that Loot was to regain his position starting yesterday.

Senior Supt. Drusillo Bolodo is now chief of staff at the regional headquarters, replacing Nerez.

A revamp of key officers took place after deputy regional director for administration Senior Supt. Joselito Tan was reassigned to Camp Crame.

Senior Supt. Ronald Roderos, deputy regional director for operations, will replace Tan. Nerez will occupy Tan’s post.

Unexpected

Loot, in an interview, said he did not expect to return to the post so soon.

He was Gov. Gwen-dolyn Garcia’s choice for CPPO director, but her political rival, Rep. Clavel Asas-Martinez (Cebu, 4th district), questioned his qualifications.

The post for provincial director should be headed by an officer ranked senior superintendent, a rank higher than that of Loot.
Loot’s wife, Daanbantayan Mayor Maria Luisa Loot, is also Garcia’s supporter.

Following orders

Asked what he would do if Martinez questions his position again, Loot said he is only following orders from his superiors, just as he previously followed an order to assume, and then vacate, the CPPO post.

“Bahala na sila uy,” Loot told Sun.Star Cebu.

The order was released just as Garcia is scheduled to turnover the second batch of 12 police vehicles to the CPPO today.

Bolodo issued a memorandum last Aug. 26 informing the offices at the CPPO to attend the turnover ceremony.

Loot and Bolodo held a simple turnover ceremony at the CPPO yesterday afternoon.

Bolodo expressed his gratitude to Gov. Garcia for continuing her support to the CPPO.

Also affected by the revamp was Supt. Carmelo Valmoria, who is now chief of the Regional Operations and Plans Division (RPOD).

Replacing him as chief of the Police Community Relations division is Mandaue City Police Office deputy for administration, Supt. Alexander Abadinas.

From the RPOD, Supt. Augusto Marquez is now chief of the Regional Intelligence and Investigation Division, while his predecessor, Supt. Rodel Calungsud, is now the camp commander of the PRO 7 and head of the Regional Headquarters Service Group. (MEA)
