Speak out: Forcing nurses to take a CGFNS exam
(Writer’s name withheld upon request)
This refers to the predicament of our nurses who passed the recent local licensure board.
I gathered that deans of some private schools are putting a lot of pressure on their nursing board passers to take the much talked about CGFNS. Accordingly, one school implied it would withdraw support to students without a CGFNS exam.
This is blackmail in the form of academic advice.
CGFNS is preparatory to taking the US nursing licensure exam. It means, with or without CGFNS, one is required to take NCLEX to be able to practice legally anywhere else in the US.
Sad to say, though, that some unscrupulous school officials would not part with their students, kay ila pang padug-on og samot. Kaluoy sad sa mga ginikanan niining mga bataa.
Our research revealed that these deans are either operating their own review schools, or they act as recruiters for some review centers, the fee of which is either "pakyaw" or on a per "head" basis.
What they are not telling the students is that some states in the US do not require CGFNS. In fact, the CGFNS exam is becoming less attractive to US employers.
Students, therefore, if properly guided, has the option to take or not to take CGFNS.
