Seafarer, IP lawyers open Cebu office

THE Sapalo & Velez Law Offices, one of the leading legal practitioners in the country today specializing in the areas of seafarer claims and intellectual property, recently opened its Visayas office at Room 422, Krizia bldg., Gonzales Compound, Gorordo ave.

Established in 1976, the office said it gained prominence with its superb handling of Filipino seafarers’ disability, death and illegal termination claims both here and abroad involving maritime incidents and disasters.

Now working hand in hand with the Stella Maris Seafarers’ Center Cebu Foundation, Inc. of the Apostleship of the Sea (AOS), an office of the Episcopal Commission for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People of the Catholic Bishops of the Philippines, it commits to strengthening seafarers’ rights through activities beyond legal representation, such as active participation in legal seminars and publications for the protection of seafarers’ rights and duties.

In the field of intellectual property, the Sapalo & Velez Law Offices said, with legal correspondents around the world, it continues to defend the rights of inventors, designers and trade/service mark owners as well as the copyrights of authors, composers, publishers and artists over their works.

Led by partners Attys. Ignacio S. Sapalo, Teresita C. Velez, Augusto R. Bundang and Neptali L. Bulilan, they hold their principal office at the Security Bank Centre on Ayala ave., Makati city. Atty. Juan Javier F. Paras heads the Cebu office.
