Jolina weaves the magic of love
By JC Perlas

IN the many years that Jolina Magdangal has been in the entertainment industry, she has reigned as a star that has captured every audience, encompassing gender, age, sexual orientation, and social class.  Jolina has proven that she has made her mark in Philippine television and all over the world as the actress has legions of fans wherever Filipinos are around the globe.  It is unquestionable that Ms. Magdangal has indeed reached icon level.

Being the fun and bubbly person on and off cam, Jolina once again surprises her fans with GMA Films’ newest offering, Lovestruck!  In the movie, Jolina Magdangal plays Jandra, the love guru and author of the book Lovestruck that gives tips to the hopeless romantics lost in love and advice to lovelorn half-hearts in search for their one great love.  Incidentally, Jolina could not have played a better role as the young actress has been happy and lucky in love with long time, US based boyfriend, Atty. Bebong Muñoz.

As Jandra, Jolina literally wears many hats and disguises within the film.  Lovestruck is foreseen to be THE film among the many other movies that Jolens has made as it has truly experimented with the many personas of Jolina.  It has attempted to stretch and exhaust Jolina as an actress.  If her fans have thought that Jolina was versatile, they might as well hang on to their chairs as Lovestruck will surely show them how really versatile Jolina Magdangal can be.  It can even be said that as Jandra in Lovestruck, Jolina is giving Michael V. a run for his money.

Jolina Magdangal may have already grown up from the color loaded teeny bopper we used to see on television but she has surely not lost her magic on screen—and she has yet to give the performance of her life, playing multiple roles in Lovestruck, which makes the movie more than worth looking forward to.  Watch out for the many Jolinas you will see in Lovestruck, come September 14!

A new brand of dramedy

In the tradition of extending to Filipino viewers “the heart of Asia” by getting only the best and the finest Asian series, GMA Network presents another Koreanovela that viewers will surely love to come home to every night – the highly-rated Sassy Girl Chun-hyang, which will start airing in GMA’s primetime Telebabad block starting Monday, September 12.

Sassy Girl Chun-hyang is a funny and sweet love story that presents a new brand of “dramedy” with its captivating special effects and remarkable cinematic stunts.  Distinguished as a high rating show of Korea for the year 2005, the romantic comedy series was consistently among the Top Ten and eventually landed the No. 1 spot during its run.

A modern interpretation of the popular Korean movie “Legend of Chun-hyang”, Sassy Girl Chun-hyang presents the hilarious love story of Marvin (Jae Hee) and Chun-hyang (Han Chae Young), two high school students who are forced to marry each other for accidentally spending a night together.  Bound by the ties of matrimony, Marvin and Chun-hyang face the impending difficulties in their relationship which will teach them the values of maturity, responsibility and faithfulness as they discover the real meaning of happiness.

One such problem they will have to surpass is the presence of Marvin’s first love Charina (Park Si-Eun) and Chun-hyang’s persistent suitor (Eom Tae-Woong), who will join forces in a cruel scheme to ruin the couple’s relationship.  Will Marvin and Chun-hyang’s love for each other be strong enough to save their marriage and withstand any obstacle that will come their way?

Filipino viewers will surely be captivated by the compelling story and cutting-edge visual effects of Sassy Girl Chun-hyang, as other Asian viewers were mesmerized from day one of this one-of-a-kind romantic comedy.  Soon, Chun-hyang and Marvin will be household names and their amusing love story a favorite topic in everyday conversations.

Chun-hyang and Marvin’s romantic adventure starts this Monday, September 12, on GMA.
