Healthcare now among top industries - business exec
While business assistance and services, food and beverages, and real estate are among the top traditional most promising industries for franchising in Cebu, healthcare aid is now counted in.
“With the high and rising cost of all commodities and services, we can no longer afford to get sick. People should be aware of the importance of taking care of their health, or else they would be spending a lot (on) medication,” stressed SM Cebu Trade Hall manager Salve Tagalog.
She said many people have realized the importance of healthcare and fitness, which is becoming an industry.
The launching of new healthcare products and services and the opening of spa centers, sports clubs, gyms and different health-related establishments indicate the big potentials of the industry, she added.
SM Cebu Trade Hall is holding its first National Healthcare (NHE) Expo 2005, a five-day event that will end tomorrow.
Aim
NHE Expo aims to provide knowledge in healthcare on all levels of medical and health concerns, “from preventive healthcare and healthy lifestyle to self-care medication and professionally guided medical treatment in homes, clinics or hospitals,” she said.
She added that the NHE Expo, seeks to promote prevention against any sickness and to lobby for a healthy lifestyle.
Tagalog said trade and food exhibits were among the top sectors given priority before, while the healthcare industry was unheard of.
With the increasing awareness on healthcare, she said SM Cebu Trade Hall now supports the growth of the medical industry by providing them a venue for promotion, services and product launches.
Unilab Nutritionals Inc., E. Excel International (Phils.) Inc., Bayer Phils., Cebu Doctors’ Hospital University, Xanthone Corp., Fitness First, and First Quadrant are among the exhibitors at the expo. (ALC)
