Franchise expo to feature 26 new exhibitors
More than 100 franchises will be available in the 6th Cebu International Franchise and Business Opportunity Expo 2005.
Rudolf Kotik, founder of RK Franchise Consultancy and organizer of the event, said while majority of franchise opportunities are from the food sector, “anything under the sun” could be a potential business for franchise.
“But first of all, it should be profitable. You can’t franchise it if it’s not. You should be at least one year in business so you would know the lean season and the peak season of your business (and forecast properly for your franchise outlets),” he said in a press conference yesterday.
Fad
He added that a business to offer franchise should also be beyond the trial and error stage and its product should have longevity.
“It (product) should not just be a fad,” he said.
RK Franchise Con-sultancy is a member of the Filipino International Franchise Association, Philippine Franchise Association, Philfoodex and World Franchise Consultants.
The franchising expo has 26 exhibitors; six are from Cebu, including Neo Neo Grill House, Café de France, Meddah Spa and Touch and Heal, and Creamee D-Lite. There is one exhibitor from Bacolod, one from Cagayan de Oro, while the rest are from Manila, he added.
R. Lapid’s Chicharon, a famous chicharon company in Manila, will launch its first franchise opportunity in Cebu during the event, Kotik said.
New exhibitors
“The last five franchising expo had been very successful. Our exhibitors got what they wanted so that most of them don’t join our expo anymore. So every year we have to bring in new exhibitors,” he said.
The three-day franchising expo will begin this Friday at Ayala Center Cebu.
A European franchise consultant with more than 27 years of experience in franchise management, Kotik will also conduct a franchise seminar on Thursday at Castle Peak Hotel.
Participants from the Visayas and Mindanao are expected to join.
Kotik also advised those interested in business franchising to have a franchise consultant who could better give guidance in the legal, operation and marketing aspects of franchising. (ALC)
