Bautista may hold defense of title in Bohol
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol – Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista might have his next WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight title defense in Bohol.
Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri Lim told reporters that the Boholanos want to see their local hero fight at home to defend the belt he won last year.
“Tony Aldeguer said it would cost us about P1.5 to P2 million to have Bautista fight in Bohol. I told him that the Boholanos want him here, they want to see their local hero fight in front of them,” Mayor Lim said.
The clamor for Bautista to fight at home has recently snowballed, and the City of Tagbilaran and Province of Bohol are now pooling their resources together to bankroll Bautista’s Nov. 12 defense.
“We have already agreed with Gov. Erico Aumentado that we are going to put up a seed money of P500,000 each, while the rest of the money will be taken from our sponsors and friends here. It’s very feasible,” Lim added.
Lim added the tickets would be very affordable since it would be subsidized by the local government officials.
“The Boholanos need not to worry about the ticket prizes because. It will be very affordable,” Lim stressed.
The proposed venue is the President Garcia Sports Center, a track and field oval that usually hosts multi-event sports competitions. (RCM)
