A story of faith on "Maalaala mo kaya"
A young girl grows up wanting to become a nun and serve the Lord – but fate has other ideas. Tonight on ABS-CBN’s multi-awarded drama Maalaala Mo Kaya, Angelica Panganiban proves anew why she is one of the drama genre’s rising stars as she powerfully portrays the role of Jophie, a young woman whose trials in life make her doubt her vocation and lose her faith.This episode, which reunites Angelica with her teen loveteam partner Carlo Aquino, introduces us first to a 9-year-old Jophie, who, inspired by her school’s kindly sisters, aspires to become a nun herself. Her path to the religious life seems clear, until her father unexpectedly dies, and her entire family – including her mother and three other siblings – experience a sudden downturn in their fortunes. Her family loses the small restaurant that her father owned, and her mother is forced to take on sewing jobs in order to feed and clothe her growing children.
Soon, Jophie finds herself forced to choose between the path she believes God chose for her, and the path that her mother believes can help their struggling family the most. And she is also soon tempted by Ferdie (Carlo Aquino), a young man who has been in love with Jophie – and who has tirelessly pursued her – since they were both children. Will Jophie keep on the path to God? Or will she lose her way – and give in to the bitterness that has threatened to consume her faith ever since her father died?
Apart from Angelica and Carlo, a sterling cast will portray crucial parts in this memorable story. This episode’s guest stars include Sylvia Sanchez, Ronalisa Cheng, Mymy Davao, and Katryn Bernardo and Steven Fermo as the young Ferdie.
Charo Santos-Concio narrates Jophie’s story of faith and redemption tonight only on ABS-CBN’s Maalaala Mo Kaya.
