Romarate, Bacalso lead Honda to title win
RItchie Bacalso and Jojo Romarate combined for 31 points to lead Honda Motor World over Hyle Bridal Haus, 64-62, in the championship match of the 7th Cebu Basketball Friendship Basketball Association (Cebfa) tournament in Barangay Looc, Mandaue City.
Bacalso, a former commercial player, split his charities in the final 10 seconds, but it was more than enough to give Honda its first title in its debut tournament.
However, it was Romarate’s two crucial baskets under two minutes left in the game that gave Honda breathing room for the win.
Behind the masterful quarterbacking of tournament MVP Reggie Licanda, Honda World headed for an easy win after taking the half with a 39-30 lead, before Hyle Bridal Haus made a spirited run in the final half.
Licanda was joined by Rookie of the Year Harry Chiong, Abellanosa, Korkie Cabahug and Kristian Ceniza in the Mythical 5.
