Tribu wants Tangkay, Quiñahan to fortify team for NBC finals

LITO Gillamac did not expect his team to go this far. But as his Skygo/SirLitz-Tribu Sugbu Tribesmen moved into the Southern Conference championship, Gillamac hopes he could fortify his team for a possible defense of its NBC National Championship title. The deadline for the signing players expired last Aug. 15.

“We still have Jercules Tangkay and Joseph Ronald Quiñahan in our line-up,” Gillamac said.

Tangkay is currently playing for M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala, while Quiñahan has not been allowed by Granny Goose to play for the Tribesmen.
Quiñahan was the franchise player of the Skygo Motorcycles in the local commercial circuit before he was drafted by Granny Goose in the PBL.

No action

Quiñahan played one game for Tribu Sugbu, while Tangkay has not seen action since the opening of the league.

“I hope we can activate these two players, since there is a good chance of making it to the national championship with them around. I am asking for the blessing of Albert Tan and I might talk with Michel Lhuillier, if they could lend us these players,” said Gillamac.

Aside from Tangkay and Quiñahan, the Tribesmen missed the services of team captain Lowell Briones, shooter Jessie Binongo and forward Neil Rañeses.

Briones and Binongo are playing in a tournament in Dubai, while Rañeses is in the PBA with Coca-Cola Tigers.

Achievement

However, Gillamac is very happy with the achievement of his team – which wasn’t expected to make it to the Southern finals.

“I never really expect that they could go this far. Whatever the results of the conference finals, it is already an achievement for this team which continually rose to the occasion,” Gillamac said.

Tomorrow, the Tribesmen will host Game 1 of the best-of-three series at the Minglanilla Sports Complex before going to Ozamiz City to play Game 2 and if necessary the Game 3. (RCM)
