Cops gave up after futile search for CH pay officers
After former pay officers Rosalina Badana and Luz Gonzales disappeared in 1998, the Cebu City Police Office had sent a team to track them down.
Supt. Pablo Labra II, Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau chief, said they reached as far as Batangas in searching for Badana after receiving information that she had a relative there who was an Air Force colonel.
After searching Fernando Air Base in Lipa, Batangas and Villamor Air Base in Pasay City, police returned empty-handed.
The last Labra heard of Badana was that she left for Hong Kong. He has no information on Gonzales.
Labra admitted they somehow dropped the search, saying they are concentrating on the robberies that have been occurring in the city.
He said, though, that if they got new orders to go after them, they would have to start work again to look for new information because it has been years since they last worked on the case.
City Hall has offered P1 million each for the capture of the former pay officers.
The offer came about after former City Hall collector Rebecca Mahusay was arrested in Mandaue City last Wednesday afternoon.
Mahusay is facing a charge for malversation of funds after she ran off with P187,000 in 2004. (MEA)
