Pacquiao ‘wins millions’ in Bacolod stag derby By Erwin Ambo S. Delilan Of Sun.Star Bacolod
Bacolod City holds fond memories for Manny Pacquiao.
One, he is the City’s adopted son.
Two, he “won millions of pesos” at one of the country’s biggest cockfight derbies.
Where he placed his bets, no one is telling. Cockfight aficionados have a code of honor not to divulge anyone’s losses or wins.
An earlier report that reached Sun.Star Bacolod said Pacquiao lost P3 million, but Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia was quick to correct this.
Feeling lucky
Leonardia said last night that Pacquiao was feeling lucky at the eight-cock derby, which started last Monday and will end on Oct. 25.
More than 300 stags were registered in the derby.
Pacquiao was said to have placed his bet on a stag named after him, “Super Pacman,” and some other entries.
The P6-million derby, being held at the Negros Coliseum and sponsored by the Gamefowl Breeders Association of Negros, has drawn the country’s most avid cock breeders and cockfight aficionados.
