Local company links with US group to train Pinoys on contact center jobs c
Cebu's pool of human resources qualified to fill the jobs in companies doing business process outsourcing (BPO) services would soon increase.
This, after US-based John F. Kennedy (JFK) Center partnered with Cebu-based RightTraining and Human Resources Inc. (RTHI), which will be introducing learning modules developed by the former.
Education
The JFK Center in Manila was formed by the JFK Inc. to provide educational programs to the Filipinos, said JFK Center Philippines president and chief executive officer Celso Santiago.
He said the company will be aggressively promoting its services in the Visayas and Mindanao beginning next year.
He also believes Cebu has enough manpower to supply the flourishing BPO industry in the province.
“(Manpower) shortage is not the word. What the manpower needs is further training (that they) acquire the skill to work in BPOs, such as call centers,” he said on the sidelines of the signing of agreement between JFK Center and RTHI at the City Sports Club Cebu yesterday.
RTHI, on the other hand, was established to address the training and human resource needs of the growing small and medium-sized industries in the Visayas and Mindanao, RTHI president and chief executive officer Ma. Norisa Kho said.
She said the company works on developing the human resources of these companies by providing training on human resource and organizational development.
Modules
With the formal launching of the partnership, the modules used by the JFK training center in Manila will be used by RTHI in training would-be BPO employees in Cebu.
BPO refers to the outsourcing of a company’s backroom operations, such as accounting, payroll, information technology, personnel recruitment, medical transcription and customer services to an organization expert in these functions.
Outsourcing enables companies to concentrate on their core business and save cost.
Business leaders have been calling on the academe to produce more graduates who are qualified to work in the industry. (JBN)
