Seag torch kicks off tour today in Cebu
The Cebu Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Cebusoc) has made lavish preparations for the Seag torch arrival today at the Mactan Cebu International Airport.
The torch relay team and support groups will assemble at 8 a.m. at the Cebu City Sports Center for a briefing before heading to the airport.
Cebu will be the official “launching city” of the symbolic flame after Seag organizers from Manila, who have arrived yesterday in Cebu, made some changes in the plan.
Police will escort the torch bearers and the national athletes who have been assigned as flag bearers representing the 11 participating nations.
At 2 p.m., the torch, accompanied by a Seag caravan, will be brought to Danao City.
Philippine Olympic Committee president and Philippine Seag Organizing Committee chief Peping Cojuangco, Philippine Sports Commission chairman Butch Ramirez and commissioner Ritchie Garcia will attend today’s ceremonies.
