Customs official’s house robbed

TWO armed men yesterday ransacked the house of a customs official in Ming Court Subd., Barangay Bulacao, Talisay City and ran off with jewelry and other valuables.

The culprits also tied up three housemaids using packaging tape.

It turned out that one of the suspects is the son of the house owner, lawyer Paul Alcazaren of the Cebu Bureau of Customs, said SPO1 Edgar Causon of the Talisay City Police Station.

Causon, leader of a three-member police team, identified Alcazaren’s son as Douglas, who lives in Leyte Province.

Causon quoted Alcaza-ren as saying that he will file a robbery case against his son and the unidentified companion.

The two men were said to be carrying handguns when they ransacked Alcazaren’s room.

“The room was in a total mess. We still have to account for everything, especially the valuables of Atty. Alcazaren,” Causon said.

The policemen arrived at the house around 9:30 a.m., but the suspects had left in a white L300 van with no plate number.

Before fleeing, the suspects, using packaging tape, bound the hands and feet of Shirley Peñalosa, Eric Peñalosa and Lani Tarquilles.

Causon said the maids were tied up on the second floor, near the living room.

The maids, though, never mentioned that one of the suspects is Alcazaren’s son.

The police got the information from Alcazaren himself.

The customs official rushed back to his house from his office an hour after learning of the incident. (GC)
