Sambag I opens hoops tilt today

The mayor Tomas Osmeña Cup Christmas League 2005 Inter-Sitio Basketball Tournament kicks off today at 2 p.m. at the Sambag I Barangay Sports Complex in Sitio Tangkongan, Urgello.

The tournament, which will run for the entire month of December, will start with the parade of 30 participating teams comprised of 14 teams in the Junior division (19-34 years old), seven teams in the Midget division (18 and below) and nine teams in the Senior division (35 above).

Expected to grace the opening ceremonies are Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, Vice Mayor Mike Rama, City Councilor Edwin Jagmoc and Sambag I Sports Commission president Daryll Yuvallos.

Tournament committee and Sambag I Barangay Captain Jerry Guardo expressed his gratitude to the participating teams from the different sitios for taking part in the competition.

Support

“We are very grateful to the different sitios for enlivening the sports program of Sambag I. We are very thankful for Mayor Tomas Osmeña’s continuous support since the start of the Inter-Sitio basketball tournament in our barangay,” added Guardo.

This is the fourth time that Sambag I staged an inter-sitio basketball tournament since it’s first staging in 2002.
