Speak out: Last days By Amado M. Naturilla Juana Osmeña, Cebu City
Where are we going? Why is the world in trouble? These are questions even the most brilliant people cannot answer. Many people do not know, but we are living in the last days.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 states: “But know this, that in the last days, critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having a form of godly devotion, but proving false to its power, and from these turn away.”
The government has been busy trying to find out how some public officials have amassed money. Our church leaders continue to have the strong belief that somehow, at a given time, our country will overcome all trials and, eventually, a good leader will emerge to bring peace and prosperity to the nation.
What really is the truth? The word of God, the Bible, has a good answer.
Daniel’s prophecy in Daniel 2:44 states: “And in the days of those Kings, the God of heaven Jehovah will set up a Kingdom that will never be put to ruin, and the Kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these Kingdoms, and it itself will stand to time indefinite.”
Almost all people don’t know that the God of heaven, Jehovah, has already set up a Kingdom. Why? Because the leaders of churches were not aware that God gave humankind a period of time to prove they can live happier and secure without their maker: where God has a time table for it. The whole world is under the direction of Satan the Devil and he has a great anger. (Revelation 12:9 and last part of 12:12).
Is there hope for the world, our country and our people? Preaching of the Good News has already been spread worldwide (Matthew 24:14). We must put into our heart the world of Jesus Christ, as stated in Matthew 6:31-33, “So never be anxious and say, ‘what are we to eat,’ or ‘what are we to drink,’ or ‘what are we to put on?’ – For all these are the things the nations are eagerly pursuing. For your heavenly Father knows you need all these things. “Keep on, then, seeking first the Kingdom, and His righteousness and all these other things will be added to you.”
Psalm 37:29 states: “The righteous themselves will possess the earth and they will reside forever upon it.” In 37:34, last part: “When the wicked are cut off you will see it.” Under God’s Kingdom, all worries gone, even death will be no more (Revelation 21:4). Jehovah God will restore our planet earth to have no more damage and all His creation will be joyful. The servant of God and all righteous with favor will become perfect and have eternal life in a wonderful paradise (Isaiah 35:1-6 and 65:21-24).
