Tax notes: Local business taxes for sauces

Banana-based, tomato-based or chili-based sauces and condiments qualify as food products that are essential commodities, pursuant to Bureau of Local Government Finance opinion dated May 30, 2005.

Hence, local manufacturers of such products shall be subject to the lower rate of local business tax imposed on essential commodities under Section 143(c), which is one-half of the rate prescribed under Section 143(a) on other manufacturers.
