Sinulog fair opens, local goods on sale
The 7th Sinulog Export Overruns and Consumer Bazaar opened yesterday at the Cebu Trade Hall of SM City Cebu with an interesting showcase of locally produced, export-quality products.
The 12-day bazaar is a yearly event that has become a shopping tradition for Sinulog revelers and tourists who come to Cebu for the festival.
This year, Sinulog bazaar gathers crafts and furniture from different regions, many of which are made of indigenous materials like Capiz shell, woven banig and local wood, among others. The bazaar runs until Jan. 17.
Pinoy ingenuity
“We intend to bring in each year to Cebu crafts that depict Filipino ingenuity to add a different character and shopping experience to the Sinulog festivity,” says L.A. Ducut and Company Inc. managing director Lilibeth D. Abais.
The company, which has over 40 years of experience in event organizing and management, noted an increasing interest and patronage by the local market for homegrown products and talents.
As a result, there has also been a notable participation of exhibitors each year, each filling up the growing demand for a one-stop showcase of “proudly Pinoy” produce. This year, for instance, the bazaar has over a hundred participating booths promising to offer a different yet affordable product mix.
New
Making up the bazaar’s long list of new product showcase this year are Bacolod’s export-quality knitted wear, Laguna’s handcrafted and high-fashion wooden bags which are heavy favorites abroad as well as Capiz-made curios, lamps and Christmas lanterns.
Bazaar regulars who look forward to finding familiar names and product lines will not be disappointed as Sinulog Export Overruns and Consumer Bazaar continues to gather under one roof bazaar favorites like fashion accessories from Cebu, delicate embroidery from Lumban, wood carvings from Baguio, hard wood furniture from Northern Luzon, handicrafts from Palawan and regional delicacies from Antipolo and Tacloban.
There’s also an influx of export overrun garments this year. (PR)
