Make your move, Sonny: Gwen on threat to file raps
Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia is not bothered by former senator John “Sonny” Osmeña’s reported pronouncement to file “massive anti-graft” cases that will kick her out of Capitol even before her term ends.
Garcia, instead, hit Osmeña’s habit of throwing supposed bombshells that end in a whimper.
She cited Osmeña’s filing of plunder cases against her father, former governor Pablo Garcia, which were “contradicted” by Capitol’s P2-billion surplus.
Osmeña also ended up with nothing on his stand about the friar lands issue, after Malacañang announced that contrary to his pronouncement, titleholders are the real owners, the governor said.
Threats
Her brother Pablo John joined in, saying Osmeña even threatened to initiate recall proceedings after the governor assumed office but got nowhere.
Sonny’s camp also presented the split Cebu bills, added Pablo John, but is now “short of abandoning it” after seeing they “grossly miscalculated and underestimated the people of Cebu.”
“Kapila na siya daghag sulti but what came out of them? Make your move, Sonny. This lonely bitter man is fantasizing in his world of fairy tales,” said the governor.
Osmeña reportedly vowed to go after Garcia’s actions at the Capitol and alleged that she is hiring contractual workers through the agency of her close friend.
To this, Garcia retorted, “Do I detect a note of wistfulness when Sonny talks of close friends? Kumusta na diay iyang close friends? Are they still around?”
Transactions at the Cebu Provincial Government are open to public scrutiny, she said.
Garcia said she does not know who Osmeña was referring to, as the former senator did not name names. But “granting, without admitting,” that she has a close friend there, she said it does not necessarily mean they circumvented the rules.
Pablo John further said Osmeña is “hallucinating” if he thinks he can oust the governor before her term ends.
“Coming from someone who wants to put Erap back in Malacañang, forgetting a tiny detail that Erap’s term already expired, he is living in a time warp. He should stop living in his fantasy world where he thinks he is king of everything and everybody,” said Pablo John. (JPM) |
