Crazy Horse manager ‘bullies’ official
The festive atmosphere in the Thirsty Cup was spoiled yesterday when the team manager of Crazy Horse and his companion allegedly threatened organizers Neil Montesclaros and Charlie Pages after the tournament officials refused the team’s request to change its lineup.
The organizers earlier set the deadline for changes in the lineup last Wednesday, but Crazy Horse wasn’t able to submit the changes. During the Wednesday meeting, a player from Crazy Horse crossed out his name from the list since he wouldn’t be able to play.
“It’s already beyond the deadline,” Montesclaros said. “But to appease them, we allowed them to change one player.”
‘Bodyguard’
Montesclaros’ suggestion didn’t go well with the manager, who, Montesclaros said, stormed to the organizer’s table with a companion, pushed him on the chest and uttered expletives.
The team manager’s companion, Montesclaros alleged, was his bodyguard.
During the scuffle, the bodyguard tried to pull something from his back, but a Don Bosco player prevented him from doing so. They hurriedly left when barangay tanods arrived at the scene.
Montesclaros said they will report the incident to the Cebu Football Association (CebuFA) for possible sanctions on the team manager.
“I will wait for the incident report but I think coercing a tournament official, whether warranted or not, is listed under the PFF catalogue of punishment,” CebuFA president Jonathan Maximo said. (ML)
