Jaca denied US visa
Philippines Jr. Lightweight champion Jimrex Jaca might forfeit his first appearance in America after the US embassy denied his visa last Thursday.
Jaca, who was scheduled to fight Ivan “Relampago” Valle in the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Erik Morales rematch on Jan. 21 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, was denied for incomplete documents, wasting his chances to showcase his talent in the most anticipated fight of the year.
Reportedly, Jaca failed to acquire the invitation from Top Ranks, the promoter of the card.
It would be near to impossible for the former OPBF superbantamweight champion to get another chance for an interview as the US embassy normally grants interview appointments 30 days from its filing.
In addition, visas will be released within 15 days making it harder for Jaca to secure it in time for the fight.
His manager Rex “Wakee” Salud now doubts whether his boxer could make it but still the Cebuano boxing impresario will consult an immigration lawyer for this matter.
Help
Sammy Gello-ani is also extending his help, since he is experienced in processing the US visa for his and ALA gym boxers, who are now in America.
Jaca is applying for a P-1 visa, which is granted to athletes and entertainers.
However, the lack of documentation from the promoters made it hard for Jaca to secure the visa.
Last Thursday was Jaca’s second appointment after he failed to appear on his first scheduled interview during third week of December.
Jaca is holding a 21-1-1, (11KOs) win-loss-draw record while Valle is carrying a 23-5-1, (18KOs) slate. (RCM)
