Jaca’s foe replaced
Philippine super-featherweight champion Jimrex Jaca will fight a new opponent in the undercard of “The Battle,” which will feature Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales in the main event.
Jaca will face a much tougher and taller foe this Sunday at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas as he takes on Dominican Republic’s John Nolasco Hughes, who replaced Ivan Valle.
Nolasco, a 30-year-old orthodox fighter who now lives in Phoenix, Arizona, holds a 15-4-4 win-loss-draw record with six wins by knockout.
Win streak
His last assignment was against Jason Litzau when he lost by split decision after 10 rounds in July last year.
Before that he had four wins and a draw since losing to Martin Honorio by decision in September 2003. His streak included a six-round knockout win over Arturo Quintero, who was earlier announced as ALA Boy Czar Amonsot’s opponent in a Feb. 3 card in the US.
The 5-foot-8 Nolasco is two inches taller than Jaca and has a six-inch edge in reach.
Jaca arrived in the US last week after he was given a US visa last Jan. 11.
After Jaca’s fight, Nolasco is again set to see action on Jan. 27 at the Desert Diamond Casino in Tucson, Arizona against Vicente Escobedo. (RCM)
