Speak out: Escape of mutineers By Arbeth G. Gloria
The recent escape of four Oakwood mutineers from the high-security detention center in Fort Bonifacio followed Marine Capt. Nicanor Faeldon’s bolting out from jail over a month ago.
Clearly, the escapees have an unfinished agenda in the free world—--the reason for their unwarranted action.
While I praise Lt. Lawrence San Juan (who appeared the other day in a clandestine interview over ABS-CBN) for his courage and tenacity to try to change the entire Armed Forces into a dignified and incorrupt organization, I definitely abhor their rebellious actions for the reason that change could not be achieved overnight and in a renegade’s way.
As to the charges they face in court, why not let their brilliant lawyers defend their fate and allow the rule of law to prevail?
They don’t deserve to mingle with and be fooled by some politicians whose only desire is to topple the administration and jeopardize the well being of the bulk of Filipinos. The military is known to be apolitical, anyway.
I guess it would be pleasant if these rebellious soldiers work with the government to solve the long-existent insurgency in the country instead!
