Domingo to defend title against Galicia in Quezon City

Philippine bantamweight-champion Michael Domingo of SGG Stable is set to make his second title defense against Roger Galicia in “Bakbakan sa Frisco ’06” promoted by Sammy Gello-ani the Quezon City Government on Feb. 3.

The Davao-City native Domingo won the title over Joel Bauya last July. He successfully defended his title over Rolly Lunas last October by unanimous decision.

Former WBC champ

Galicia, a former WBC International bantamweight champion, failed in his first attempt to win the Philippine belt after a split-decision loss to Bauya last April.

Domingo carries a 26-14-3 (12 KOs) win-loss-draw record, while Galicia, of the Rex “Wakee” Salud Stable, is 24-6-2 (8 KOs).

In the undercard is the rematch between ALA Boy Rollen del Castillo (11-3-0, 5KOs) and Alex Aroy (7-2-1, 4KOs) of RWS Stable. In their first meeting, del Castillo won a hard-fought unanimous decision last October.

Rounding up the card are SGG’s Fabio Marfa in a comeback bid against Mario de Asis of the Aljoe Jaro Stable, Along Denoy versus Jun Eraham, Johnny Lear vs. Elpher Paganpan, Milan Milendo Jr. vs. Ruther del Castillo and Rex Malibago vs. Jongjong Gagante.

Meanwhile, Arnel Tadena of the SGG stable will take on former WBF flyweight-champion Rolando Toyogon at the Dalaguete Sports Complex, Dalaguete, Cebu on Feb. 4.

It will be Tadena’s (5-1-0) seventh fight, while Toyogon (22-20-3, 5KOs) is a veteran of 45 professional fights.

Fighting in the undercard of this 34-round promotion are Glen Masicampo versus veteran Edward Escriber, Cris Alag vs. Jaime Acerda, Jun “Flash Mongo” Intor against Dave Cris and Rashied Bacus vs. Ronnie Dumaran. (RCM)
