Speak Out: Meaningless deaths

THE incident that took the lives of at least 74 persons in Manila last Saturday was made more tragic because their deaths seemed to have no meaning.

Fatal stampedes in the last 15 years were mostly religious in nature. At least victims died trying to commune with their God.

Ours died because they wanted a chance to win millions in a game show that offers cosmetic poverty alleviation.

It doesn't help that the network is showing almost every hour images of the host crying.

It's not about you, Willie! Nor is it about the network!
