Prisaa Games start today
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Coaches and delegation officials of all the participating regions nationwide ironed out the remaining kinks yesterday in the 2006 Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) National Games during the solidarity meeting at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center here.
The drawing of lots and schedules of competitions were also released in yesterday’s meeting.
The formal opening ceremony was also postponed from this morning to this afternoon since President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo cannot make it until later today.
The President
Arroyo will keynote the opening ceremony of the weeklong event, which is expected to gather 4,000 athletes, to be held in Dagupan City from Feb. 6 to 12.
While most of the games will be held at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center here, venue of the 1995 Palarong Pambansa, the swimming competitions will be held at Dagupan City’s Olympic-size swimming pool.
Taekwondo will be held at the Atrium of the CSI City Mall in Barangay Lucao, Dagupan City, while lawn tennis competition will be at the Binmaley town auditorium.
Elimination rounds for basketball will be held at the city plaza of Alaminos and at the municipal gym of Rosales, while the finals will be at the Dagupan City People’s Astrodome.
Bangus grill
A featured activity during the opening week is the ôKalutan ed Dagupanö (bangus grill) around the city plaza of Dagupan to be hosted by the government. Gary Valenciano and Mocha will perform.
Pictorial session for the Mutya ng Prisaa is scheduled at the Hundred Islands off Alaminos City.
Meanwhile, the 200-person strong Prisaa-7 delegation arrived in Binmaley, Pangasinan, where the delegation is being billeted at the Binmaley Elementary School.
Binmaley, 10 kilometers away from Dagupan, is situated in between Prisaa national games main hosts Dagupan City and the Municipality of Lingayen. (JSV)
