PLDT offers solutions against risks of virus, attacks against Net users

While the Internet brings convenience, it also poses risks on people and organizations that rely on it.

“The Internet has led more and more organizations to become increasingly dependent on (its) applications to keep their business running,” the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) said.

PLDT’s ePLDT, the arm that focuses on providing Internet services, said people and organizations realize later that as their dependence on application and resource sharing increases, the more vulnerable they are to attacks or misuse of Internet connections.

This is why e-PLDT has developed D-Fence, a managed security solution that provides state-of-the-art protection to a company’s network, especially valuable data, the telecommunications company said in a statement.

Security

ePLDT D-Fence is part of ePLDT’s growing team of security experts who focus on security products and solutions, such as fire-walls, intrusion detection systems, vulnerability assessment, anti-virus, public key infrastructure and professional services.

These security solutions combat threats to network security.

As its term suggests, the firewall service provides a perimeter defense solution that secures the clients’ valuable data and trusted network from the Internet.

The service reduces the risk against the organization and protects the privacy and integrity of the user’s communications despite the openness of the Internet.

Anti-virus

The D-Fence anti-virus service, on the other hand, is for VITRO-centric users and covers e-mail hosting, server hosting and co-location, among others. It helps unburden a client’s IT group with the challenges of maintaining virus protection security and allows it to focus on core IT services that are vital to business operations.

The Detect service, on the other hand, monitors network traffic and detect malicious attacks on networks, servers, applications and desktops.

Meanwhile, the vulnerability assessment service of D-fence offers vulnerability assessment consultancy services that provide an extensive security health check on valued data and networks.

It allows businesses to be more accurate in improving security solutions when and where they are most needed. (JBN)
