Manila Mayor Lito Atienza’s story on Maalaala
What life lessons can you learn from a father? Can a father’s influence change a son’s destiny?
In its second episode this February, Maalaala Mo Kaya celebrates the importance of filial love with the extraordinary story of a father and son, played by Dante Rivero and Diether Ocampo, in an episode directed by Mae Cruz and written by Arlene Tamayo.
In 1950s Manila, a young boy named Lito grows up in the commanding shadow of his adored father Pepe (Dante Rivero), a community leader who is running for office as Lito enters puberty. But whereas Don Pepe twice fails to capture the councilor’s seat he is aiming for, his struggles, and his fierce loyalty to his family and his principles become models for his son, now growing into an adult.
The story featured tonight is based on the growing-up-years of Manila mayor Lito Atienza. Raquel Villavicencio, Karlyn Bayot, Julio Pacheco, Andrea Torres and Theo Bernardos also join the cast in this special episode, airing tonight. Charo Santos-Concio hosts.
