CV ball teams on a roll

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – If the overall campaign of Central Visayas/Region 7 looks bright after the third day, so is its bid in the ball games in the Private Schools Athletic Association National Games.

First off to zoom ahead was the Men’s volleyball team, composed of the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars, which cruised to its fourth straight victory.

The Region 7 spikers whipped regional neighbor Region 8 of Tacloban City, Ormoc City and Maasin City, winning in straight sets, 25-11, 25-6, 25-13.

The Women’s volleyball team, also composed of players from USJ-R, bounced back from its loss the other day after eking out a 25-15, 25-16, 25-11 victory over Region 5 to tally its third win in four games.

Lawn tennis

In lawn tennis, the Men’s team barged into the semifinal round after blotting out Region 4, 3-0, in yesterday’s quarterfinals at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center, while its Women’s team also barged into the semis with a separate victory over Region 4 at the town of Binmaley.

The Men’s team will face Region 10 in the semifinals, while the Women’s team will battle Region 9 in semifinals.

The University of Cebu and USC-manned Prisaa 7 Women’s basketball team also eked out a victory yesterday, but it was already non-bearing as the team already lost twice earlier and is already out of the medal race. (JSV)
