I was raped three times, woman says in affidavit

The 18-year-old woman who accused a parish priest in Danao City of rape narrated in her affidavit that the abuse took place three times over a period of six months.

The priest has denied the allegations.

According to her affidavit, the woman came to know Fr. Jose Belciña because she attended the 6 a.m. Sunday masses that the priest officiated since she was in second year high school.

The priest allegedly offered to give her financial support for her college education in May 2005.

They later agreed that since the priest was helping her with college expenses, she will help out in the convent and in the church during her free time.

Last July 22, the priest allegedly asked her to go to his room in the convent to do some chores.

She said the priest later started kissing and hugging her. He also allegedly showed her a gun, which frightened her.

That was when the first rape happened. She was 17 then. She turned 18 last Dec. 9.

The second incident allegedly happened last Dec. 25, still in the priest’s room in the convent. That time, she was asked to massage his feet, and was raped after that.

Last Jan. 28, she went to the convent to ask money from the priest for her school project. She was again allegedly abused.

After that incident, she sought help.

Lawyer Yvonne Artiaga represented her in the filing of the complaint before the Danao City Prosecutor’s Office last Friday. (AIV)
