Bohol councilor nabbed in raid
A barangay councilor Jetafe, Bohol and a couple were arrested in a raid late Monday night in Barangay Ermita, Cebu City for alleged obstruction of justice.
The Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau (CIIB) collared councilor Teodulo D. Francisco of Banakon Island, Jetafe, Bohol for allegedly trying to intervene when a CIIB team, led by Supt. Pablo Labra II, served a search warrant on couple Bebot and Evelyn Sebua in Ermita at 11:30 p.m.
Judge Fortunato de Gracia Jr. of the Regional Trial Court Branch 7 issued the search warrant.
Francisco, in a an interview at the stockade of the Cebu City Police Office at the Camp Sotero Cabahug along Gorordo Ave., said he was at the Sebuas’ house to visit Bebot, his nephew.
Shabu
He declined to comment on the allegation, saying he was leaving it to his legal counsel. Evelyn and Bebot also refused to be interviewed.
During the raid, the operatives found 11 packs of shabu that weighed 11.65 grams and P6,600 in different denominations and coins.
After raiding the house of the Sebuas, the police team proceeded to the house of Estelita Lerio also in Barangay Ermita to implement a search warrant for drugs.
Lerio was not around during the raid, but police confiscated 10.06 grams of shabu placed in 20 small transparent plastic packs.
Clenched fist
Meanwhile, the Fuente Osmeña Police Station arrested a 43-year-old man at a checkpoint last Monday night on Escario St., Barangay Camputhaw.
Police found Giovani Fernandez Ministerio in possession of shabu. Ministerio is from Camputhaw.
Police and a barangay intelligence network team noticed that Ministerio clenched his fist during the checkpoint. Suspicious, police asked Ministerio to open his fist, revealing a pack of shabu. (JST)
