Police braces for Edsa 1 celebration

The Lapu-Lapu City Police Station and all police offices in the province have been in full alert since last Feb. 17, in preparation for the Edsa People Power 1 celebration this Saturday.

In a radio message sent to all police station and the 703 Provincial Mobile Group, Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Vicente Loot directed police chiefs to upgrade their alert status.

Full alert status is the highest among alert levels.

In a full alert status, all applications for leave of absence are frozen, unless approved by higher command.

Loot also ordered all his officials to intensify intelligence gatherings to preempt terror plans.

He also ordered them to strengthen security on vital installations and other possible terrorist targets.

The status has not been downgraded yet. (OCP)
