Torion, Valenzuela stay with Red Bull Barakos
The two Cebuano players who are part of the Red Bull Barakos’ championship-snaring run in the PBA San Mig Coffee Fiesta Conference, Junthy Valenzuela and Jimwell Torion, have been given new leases on life regarding their stints with the team.
Torion and Valenzuela, teammates with the Salazar Institute of Technolgy Skyblazers, are among the five Red Bull players who will be given new contracts before the All-Filipino Conference kicks off on March 4. The other three are Finals Most Valuable Player Lordy Tugade, Cyrus Baguio and Topex Robinson.
According to Red Bull management, these players will be re-signed due to their solid contributions in capturing the crown of the recently-concluded conference.
Red Bull team manager Tony Chua was quoted in earlier reports as saying that the five would surely come back for Red Bull.
“Definitely, they will be renewed. I’m really proud of them because they didn’t bother me during the championship even though their contracts would expire by the end of February,” said Chua.
“That’s probably the reason why we are getting so much blessings because the boys are putting the team first in their priorities,” Chua said.
However, Chua did not reveal the terms of the new contracts of the five Bulls as negotiations are underway but said “in principle” their renewals are already okay.
In another major move, the Talk ’N Text Phone Pals, recently sent Mark Clemence Telan to the Express for former USJ-R Jaguar John Ferriols. The one-on-one deal was said to be finalized Sunday night.
Ferriols will join Edward Juinio, who was acquired from the Coca-Cola Tigers in exchange for a second-round pick.
Also making a new acquisition are the Alaska Aces, who are said to be about to move a marquee player to another team within the week. (JSV)
