One of region’s most wanted men arrested

OPERATIVES from the Regional Intelligence Office (RIO) 7 arrested one of the most wanted persons in Central Visayas in a manhunt in Mindanao.

RIO 7 operatives led by Senior Insp. Glenn Mayam arrested Pablo Ohayas of Pinamungajan, Cebu in Barangay Maligaya, Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur at 8:30 p.m. last Feb. 23.

Warrants

The arrest was made by virtue of two warrants of arrest issued by Judge Gualberto Delgado of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) 7 Branch 29 for murder, and Judge Gaudioso D. Villarin of RTC 7 Branch 59 for attempted murder.

Ohayas had a bounty of P100,000 for his arrest.

Ohayas was accused of killing Alejandro Laraga on Aug. 9, 1994 in Barangay Busay, Pinamungajan, Cebu.

Knife, gun

He was allegedly armed with a bladed weapon and a handgun in carrying out the crime.

He was also accused of attempting to kill Ireneo Owas in 1993 in Pinamungajan.

Ohayas had spent time in the National Bilibid Prisons in 1985 and was released in 1991 for the killing of Lito Paslon at Kabaasan, Sambagon, Pinamungajan.

He is temporarily detained at the stockade of the Police Regional Office 7. (JST)
