Coke beats Giants, moves to 3-0
The Coca-Cola Tigers extended their winning streak to three games and solidified their hold of the top position in the Gran Matador Brandy PBA Philippine Cup after they outlasted the Purefoods Chunkee Giants yesterday, 80-72, at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Tigers, who registered blowout victories in their initial two games – 81-68 versus the Alaska Aces and 104-83 versus the Air 21 – utilized their superior interior defense in breaking away from the hard-fighting Giants in the final period to secure the victory.
Rafi Reavies was named Best Player of the Game after the lanky Fil-American registered 15 markers on top of 10 boards and two blocks.
The Tigers rose to 3-0, while Purefoods dropped to 1-1.
In the nightcap, Red Bull broke into the win column after a 99-87 win over Alaska. Red Bull improved to 1-1, while Alaska suffered its second loss in three starts. (JSV)
