Representatives of the DED visited the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) last Tuesday to discuss the CCCI’s quality certification project, which includes the placement of Nikolaus Stumpf, an ISO certification expert who has been with CCCI since September last year.

The DED group was represented by Dr. Wolfgang Jaeckel, head of the Asia desk in Bonn, Germany, coutry director for the Philippines Christoph Dehn and economic and employment promotion coordinator Konrad de Bortoli.
The DED is helping the CCCI establish a quality management system and obtain an ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 9001 certification.

The project also seeks to set in place a basic ISO con-sultancy within CCCI on the implementation of quality management systems.
The implementation of quality management systems is a practical way to ensure business growth and with it, the protection of existing and creation of new jobs through increase in global competitiveness and opening of new markets.
The DED views this is as a strategic way of reducing poverty.
