DTI shuns award of other groups
The Department of Trade and Industry-Bureau of Product Standards (DTI-BPS) said the only quality related award that it recognizes is the Philippine Quality Awards (PQA) administered by the DTI-Center for Industry Competitiveness.
The center is supervised by the office of Director Virgilio Fulgencio while the PQA Committee is chaired by the trade secretary.
The DTI does not recommend the endorsement of quality and excellence awards given by organizations not recognized by the agency.
The PQA, a national quality award program established through Executive Order 448 in 1997 and institutionalized through Republic Act 9013, was created to help local companies improve their productivity, service and product quality to gain a competitive edge and increase profits. (PR)
